About Author Jan Anderegg

Hi and welcome to my blog! My name is Jan, and I’m delighted that you’ve stopped in to see what this blog is about.

I’ve been writing since I could hold a crayon, and graduated to pens and then a keyboard as time went on. To my utter delight, I discovered other people enjoyed reading what I wrote when I joined the online writing site, FanStory.com. At first I concentrated on short stories, and was thrilled to be named FanStory’s “Short Work Writer of the Year” in 2007 and 2008.

I was awarded ‘Seal of Quality’ recognition on FanStory.com for my Y.A. novella, ‘Her Brother’s Keeper’, and ‘The Pearl Garden’; a contest-winning short story about children with disabilities.

As the daughter of a retired Naval officer/history professor and an artist/nurse, I learned to paint pictures with words at an early age. I devoured books and loved to read. My childhood days were spent reading stories, riding horses, and loving life. I dreamed of visiting the books I loved – of living in them, experiencing them.

Yes, I was that kid who spent hours trying to find a way to get into Narnia. I was certain if I just searched enough wardrobes, or touched enough paintings … it would happen. I believed in magic. I still do.

Yet I was never able to find one of those magic portals into my favorite stories, until Julu came along. Julu allowed me to ride on her back while she soared into Jirvania – the land of imagination where all stories are created.

So what is this blog about? Certainly about the characters and stories of Julu, but most importantly about the story we are all experiencing – life in this moment. I want to share with you my experiences on this journey, and hopefully provide enjoyment and encouragement along the way.
